"There is a candle in your heart, ready to be kindled.
There is a void in your soul, ready to be filled. You feel it, don’t you?"
~Rumi
The spiritual path is fierce and powerful because it leaves no stone unturned.
Every aspect of our experience, everything we think defines us, is illuminated in the light of conscious awareness—and arises for liberation.
In the end there is no unconscious, nothing hiding outside of awareness, no resistance to anything—revealing intimacy with all experience.
It’s infinitely freeing because the personal self is known to be a temporary appearance and not the truth of who we are. We no longer take things personally, so it’s the end of shame and self-criticism.
It’s effortless because we realize that nothing needs to be protected, pushed away, or feared. We know Being as pure openness that just is.
Eventually, all our patterns come to awareness for purification. This includes the deeply-held ones, the sneaky ones, and the ones we’re afraid to look at.
What keeps us feeling separate and disconnected from our true nature? We believe these patterns define us so we take them to be true.
We believe we’re inadequate or unlovable;
We view the world as unsafe and believe we need to protect ourselves;
We believe we need to be perfect to be happy;
We define ourselves by our accomplishments or appearance.
Unseen emotions fuel these patterns and keep the conditioning firmly intact.
Do you find yourself in the same stressful situation, no matter how hard you try to make it different? Then some aspect of your inner experience is waiting for your loving attention.
We learn to be with our inner experience in childhood by how our parents relate to us. In the best case scenario, we had caregivers who made eye contact, expressed empathy, validated our emotions, and wholeheartedly welcomed whatever we expressed, even if it was challenging. They offered a calm nervous system when ours was activated.
As a result, we felt seen, heard, and understood. This is a powerful way to learn that our own experience is perfectly okay. And it gives us the confidence to address our own emotions.
Unfortunately, many of us weren’t raised by adults who had the capacity to relate to us with unconditional acceptance. And we quickly learn to be uncomfortable with ourselves. Because our own experience couldn’t be welcomed by others, we feel overwhelmed by or ashamed of our own thoughts and feelings.
The good news is that we can learn to be kind and compassionate toward our own experience. We can lean into the ever-present vibration of consciousness that is unconditionally welcoming…fully allowing…free of story…effortlessly open to all that’s here…
In this safe space, we can directly experience what arises. It’s a loving, infinitely inclusive way of being with ourselves, a full-on Yes! to whatever we’re experiencing. This is the medicine for what was missing in our childhoods and a way into knowing our true nature.
We can welcome our own experience like the most loving parent would be with their child, giving it time to open, change, grow, or soften in the infinite space of being aware.
So freeing! Can you see how loving it is to be meet our own experience as it is? Division falls away, and there’s just pure experiencing of what is.
Every moment is here for awakening. Don’t prefer pleasant experiences over negative ones, as these false categories create stories of resistance.
Your true nature, eternally awake, is infinite, undivided, and already holds everything in the deepest acceptance. Being fully attuned with your experience is a doorway into knowing this absolute reality. Love every nook and cranny of everything to realize the freedom your heart longs for…
Love to you, 💜
Gail
