“All that is necessary to awaken to yourself as the radiant emptiness of spirit is to stop seeking something more or better or different, and to turn your attention inward to the awake silence that you are.”
~Adyashanti
Are you aware of what is truly important to you? Are you living according to your essential, heartfelt values and what is true for you?
Many of us are struggling to find freedom from our habitual tendencies. But even with the best of intentions, we end up in a fog of unconsciousness and stuck in programmed reactions.
We long to live with full aliveness in the moments of our lives, yet somehow we keep getting caught in painful thoughts and feelings, we get lost in mindless behaviors for hours, or we can’t seem to do the things we really want to do for our well-being.
Tools don’t seem to work as we end up in the same rut, unable to make the changes we want no matter how hard we try.
Today let’s bring a fresh view to this struggle with our habitual patterns. And it’s one that invites us to come fully and consciously into our present moment experience.
Because ultimately, right here is where our patterns untangle and we realize the possibility of freedom.
The past won’t change, and the future will never arrive. This is the moment that is alive for us. This is it!
Here is where we get to choose what we feed with our attention. And here is where get to live what is most important to us.
And what is that? What is truly essential for you to live and express in any given moment?
I posed this question to someone recently, and he offered, “I want to be grateful for what I have. I want to see things with logic as they actually are, meet hard moments with grace and peace, and enjoy life.”
What beautiful, heartfelt desires! Can you imagine him living them in his moment-to-moment experience?
I invited him to deeply feel into these desires as he experienced anxiety. Immediately, a fierce and powerful energy rose up to stay rooted in the present and not follow the story of the anxious thoughts.
He realized a powerful commitment to live what is truly important to him.
That’s how it works. When we’re pulled into stories that don’t serve our happiness or what we're doing feels like an obligation and not an opportunity, we can pause…and consciously reconnect with what we really want for ourselves in that moment.
Is it gratitude, kindness, authenticity, peace, aliveness, service, or love? What are your core desires that are most important to you…right now?
Feel the longing in every cell…let your whole being update to be aligned with these desires. Then be open to how they want to be expressed.
Following anxious thoughts…staying stuck in emotional pain…spending another hour scrolling through social media…numbing out of boredom or fear. Be kind to yourself as you become aware of the ways you feel small and separate.
Then seize the opportunity to wake up to this moment—the one that you get to live right now. And let it unfold from the deepest truth alive in you.
You’re here, free of past and future, eyes wide open, and fully available to life.
With much love 💚
Gail
